The OUA defending champion University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's water polo team went 2-3 at the U of T Fall Classic, October 2-4, at Varsity Pool.
Game 1: Toronto 16, Moose Water Polo Club 6The Blues got out to a 5-2 lead after the first quarter, led by three goals from Megan MacCormac. Toronto padded their lead with four unanswered tallies to start the second, including two more from MacCormac, to take an 11-3 lead at the half.
MacCormac led the team with five goals, while Emily Bidinosti scored three. Julie Szpara, Stefanie Chapamn, Emily Kelvin-Davies and Natalie Blouin each had two in the victory.
Game 2: Hartwick College 17, Toronto 12Trailing 7-2 after the first quarter, the Blues rallied to outscore Hartwick 6-4 in the second frame and only trailed 11-8 at the midway point of the game.
Hartwick was able to add four unanswered goals in the third quarter and despite three late goals, the Blues were unable to complete the come back.
Emily Bidinosti led the Blues with five goals, while Megan MacCormac and Stefanie Chapman each had two. Natalie Blouin, Julia Szpara and Emily Kelvin-Davies each had one in the loss.
Game 3: Toronto 14, McMaster 1Up 1-0 after the first quarter, Toronto exploded for five goals in the second to take a 6-1 lead at the half. Toronto went onto score four and five goals in the third and fourth, respectively, to round out the win.
Ana Miroslavic led the team with four goals, with Emily Bidinosti and Emily Morrison each scoring two in the win. Single tallies came from Julia Szpara, Katie Rich, Rachel Twiss, Megan MacCormac, Stefanie Chapamn and Diane Andrewas.
Game 4: Club CAMO Water Polo 10, Toronto 8In what proved to be a back-and-forth battle, CAMO got out to a 3-2 lead after the first quarter and led 4-3 at halftime.
Toronto was able to take a 7-6 lead late in the third quarter thanks to back-to-back goals from Emily Bidinosti; however CAMO responded, out-scoring U of T 3-1 in the final quarter to win the game.
Megan MacCormac led the team with three goals, while Bidinosti had two. Natalie Blouin, Ana Miroslavic and Stefanie Chapman all scored once in the loss.
Game 5: Hartwick 19, Toronto 12Tied 4-4 after the first quarter, Hartwick went ahead with a 6-2 second frame to take a 10-6 lead at halfime. The Blues attempted to rally, bringing the game within two (11-9), but a strong fourth quarter from Hartwick sealed the visitor's win.
Emily Bidinosti led the Blues with five goals, while Megan MacCormac had three and Ana Miroslavic notched two. Julie Szpara and Emily Kelvin-Davies each scored once in the loss. 
 
The Varsity Blues return to action on Saturday, October 24 as they head to Hamilton, Ont., to take on the McMaster Marauders. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
