The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's lacrosse team defeated the Trent Excalibur 9-8 and the UOIT Ridgebacks 10-3 on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 3) in Kingston, Ont.
With the wins, the Blues improve to 6-0-0 on the season.
Toronto 9, Trent 8With Trent leading 1-0 in the early goings, Toronto scored four unanswered goals, including two from U of T athlete of the week Sarah Jamieson. The Excalibur rallied and the Blues led 5-4 at halftime.
Trent evened the score early in the second half, only to again be answered by two goals from the Blues. This one ended 9-8 in favour of U of T.
Jamieson led the team with four goals and one assist, while Mary Anne Meerasabeer, Chenez Power, Jessica Kras and Zoe Chad each had one goal in the victory.
Toronto 10, UOIT 3Down 2-0 after the first eight minutes of the game, the Blues called a time out and re-grouped, holding the ridgebacks to only one goal over the next 52 minutes. The solid defe?nce was led by Jeska Eedens and Megan Shea, as well as goaltender Daniela Solomon.
Offensively, Melissa Holland led the team with three goals and one assist. Jamieson, Chad and Meerasabeer each added two goals in the victory.Â
The Blues return home tomorrow to host the Trent Excalibur and Western Mustangs.Â
