BLUES FALL TO NO. 2 GEE-GEES

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 11) in Ottawa.

With the loss, the Blues drop to 6-5-1 and sit in fifth place in the OUA East division.

Toronto held the No. 2 nationally ranked Gee-Gees to a scoreless first half, with fifth-year veteran goalkeeper Sara Petrucci posting five saves in the first 45 minutes of action.

Pilar Khoury opened the scoring in the 49th minute and the Gee-Gees extended their lead with a Julia Francki penalty kick goal just two minutes later.

Francki and Khoury each added one more in the 69th and 75th minutes, respectively, before Alexandra Rocha netted Toronto's lone goal of the contest in the 85th minute.

Petrucci ended the match with nine saves.

The Varsity Blues return to action next Saturday, October 17 when they host the Laurentian Voyageurs at Varsity Centre. Game time is set for 12 p.m.
