The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's lacrosse team defeated the McMaster Marauders 16-3 before falling to the defending OUA champion Western Mustangs 15-10 on Sunday, September 14 in London, Ont.

Veteran Taryn Grieder led the Blues in the first game of the day, notching four goals, while sophomore standout Sarah Jamieson and veteran Katie McCurdy had three goals apiece.

Zoe Chad had two goals, while Jessica Kras, Carly Heitzner, Larissa Boychuk and Christine Neatby all added single tallies in the win.

In the second game of the day, the Blues found themselves down only 8-7 at the half to a strong Western team. The Mustangs responded, however, outscoring the Blues 7-3 in the second half to take the win. Grieder once again led Toronto with four goals, while Jamieson and McCurdy netted two each. Melissa Holland and Neatby each scored once in the loss.Â

The Varsity Blues return to action next Sunday, September 21 as they travel to Peterborough, Ont., to take on the Queen's Gaels and Trent Excalibur.Â
