WOMEN’S LACROSSE DOWN LIONS, RIDGEBACKS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's lacrosse team defeated the York Lions 17-0 and UOIT Ridgebacks 14-7 on Saturday, October 4 in Oshawa, Ont.
 
With the win, the Blues improve to 4-1-1 at the midway point of the season.
 
Taryn Grieder led the team with five goals in Toronto's win over York. Larissa Boychuk added four goals, while Christine Neatby had three goals. Melissa Holland scored two, while Kristie Liu, Jessica Kras and Mary Anne Meerasabeer added one goal each in the win.
 
June Bang notched the shut out in her first career game.
 
In the second game of the day, Katie McCurdy led the squad with five goals, while Sarah Jamieson and Holland had three apiece. Carly Heitzner scored two and Megan Hooper added one in the win.
 
The Varsity Blues return to action next Saturday, October 11 as they head to Hamilton, Ont., to take on the Brock Badgers at 4:45 p.m.
