BLUES PLAY TO 2-2 DRAW

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team tied the Nipissing Lakers 2-2 on Saturday, October 18 in North Bay, Ont.

With the draw, the Blues are 9-4-2 in third place, two points ahead of the Queen's Gaels heading into their final game of the regular season tomorrow.

Toronto opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a goal from Christine Zwimpfer. Nipissing quickly evened it up as Vanessa Rota found the back of the net five minutes later.

The Blues regained the lead when Alexandra Rigby scored in the 15th minute, but the Lakers scored with a goal from Shannon Russell in the 44th.

Neither team could score in the second half and the game ended in a deadlock.

Blues goalkeeper Sara Petrucci made eight saves in the draw.

The Varsity Blues wrap up the regular season tomorrow in Sudbury, Ont., as they take on the Laurentian Voyageurs.
