Box Score Second-year midfielder Nicki Parkes scored both goals in leading the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over the Queen's Gaels on Sunday, October 12 in Kingston, Ont.
 
With the win, the Blues improve to 8-4-1 and sit in fourth place in the OUA East, with one game in hand over the Gaels (8-3-3).
 
Parkes opened the scoring, beating Queen's goalkeeper Madison Tyrell in the 10th minute. Tara Bartram evened the score in the 31st minute and the game remained deadlocked at 1-1 at the half.
 
Parkes proved to be the game hero, notching the eventual winner in the 57th minute.
 
Fourth-year goalkeeper Sara Petrucci posted seven saves in the victory.
 
The Varsity Blues return to action this Wednesday, October 15 as they host the Trent Excalibur at Varsity Centre. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
