The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw with the Laurentian Voyageurs on Sunday, September 9 at Varsity Centre.

The Blues move to 1-2-1, while Laurentian remains undefeated with a 2-0-2 record so far in 2013 OUA East division action.

U of T outshot Laurentian 4-2 in the match, with Blues rookie midfielder Claudia Piazza (Brampton) registering a game-high two shots. Toronto also had seven corner opportunities, compared to the Voyageurs two, but neither team was able to convert.

The Blues opened the match with two corner kicks and Blues leading scorer Aisha Lewis almost found the back of the net, but her rebound rang off the cross bar. Laurentian put on the pressure on the last play of the first half, but Blues goalkeeper Sara Petrucci came up with two stops to keep is scoreless at the half.

U of T had a couple of chances early in the second half that saw first-year defender Christine Mulligan (Vancouver) send a header just wide of the net and Lewis boot the ball just over the cross bar.
The Varsity Blues return to action this Wednesday night (Sept. 11) as they host the Trent Excalibur at Varsity Centre. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
