ANOTHER LATE GOAL KEEPS UNDEFEATED STREAK ALIVE

First-year defender Alyssa Golin scored in the 90th minute as the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team played the Laurentian Voyageurs to a 2-2 draw on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 6) in Sudbury, Ont.

With the tie, the Blues remain in second place in the OUA East division with an 8-2-2 record. Toronto has not lost a game since a 3-1 loss to the No. 1 Ottawa Gee-Gees on opening weekend (Sept. 1) and cap off their six-game road stretch with an impressive 5-0-1 record.

Laurentian's Amanda Kwan opened the scoring in the 17th minute, but third-year Blues midfielder Olivia Gonsalves (Scarborough) evened the score seven minutes later. The game remained deadlocked at 1-1 at the half.

Julia Lopez notched the Voyageurs go-ahead goal in the 85th minute; however, Golin came up huge for the Blues, scoring her third goal of the season to give the Blues the tie.

Blues goalkeeper Sara Petrucci (Bolton, Ont.) made six saves on the day.

The Varsity Blues return home this Saturday, October 12 as they host the No. 7 Queen's Gaels at Varsity Centre. The game will be streamed live on GoBlues.tv, starting at 1 p.m.

The University of Toronto is the proud host of the 2013 CIS women's soccer championship, November 7-10, at Varsity Centre.
