ZWIMPFER’S LATE GOAL EXTENDS STREAK TO SEVEN

Second-year striker Christine Zwimpfer scored in the 90th minute to lead the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over the Nipissing Lakers on Saturday afternoon in North Bay, Ont.

The win marks Toronto's seventh straight as they hold an 8-2-1 record and sit in second place in the OUA East division. The Lakers drop to 1-7-3 and are in eighth.

A native of North Vancouver, B.C., Zwimpfer notched her first goal as a Varsity Blue to break the scoreless deadlock.
Third-year goalkeeper Sara Petrucci of Bolton, Ont., earned the shut out in net.

The Varsity Blues end their six-game road stretch tomorrow (Oct. 6) as they take on the Laurentian Voyageurs in Sudbury at 1 p.m.

The University of Toronto is the proud host of the 2013 CIS women's soccer championship, November 7-10, at Varsity Centre.
