BLUES OFF TO KINGSTON WITH OUA TITLE WITHIN REACH

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's lacrosse team travels to Kingston, Ont., for the 2013 OUA women's lacrosse championship, November 1-3, hosted by the Queen's Gaels.

Toronto finished the season atop the East division with a 9-3 record and earn a bye into the quarter-final round. U of T will face the winner of the playoff match-up between the Brock Badgers and the York Lions on Friday night at 8:45 p.m.

Toronto faced the Badgers last weekend (Oct. 27), and came up short in a 12-11 battle. Earlier in the season (Sept. 14.) the Blues defeated the Lions 17-4.

The Blues have been led by the scoring combination of veteran Taryn Grieder (Coburg, Ont.) and first-year stand out Sarah Jamieson (Etobicoke, Ont). The pair has netted 38 and 33 goals, respectively, accounting for over half the teams total goals scored this season.

Fifth-year attacker Larissa Boychuk (Mississauga, Ont.), has also made an impact on the Blues front line notching 19 goals in 2013.

The Blues last won the championship in 2002 and this year will look to break the two-time defending champion Western Mustangs reign at the top of the OUA.
