LEWIS NETS THREE, BLUES PECK RAVENS FOR PLAYOFF BYE

Women's soccer leading scorer and team co-captain Aisha Lewis completed a hat trick performance, notching the game-winning goal in the 90th minute as the No. 7 Varsity Blues defeated the Carleton Ravens 3-2 on Sunday afternoon in Ottawa.

Toronto finishes the season with a 10-3-3 record and in second place in the OUA East division, and will host an OUA quarter-final match on Sunday, October 27 at 1 p.m. at Varsity Centre. Opponent to be determined after Wednesday's playoff round.

A native of Mississauga, Ont., Lewis notched the first goal of the match as she booted the ball into the bottom right corner of the net on a breakaway in the 10th minute.

The Ravens responded two minutes later as Sarah Royer sent the ball into the top right corner of the net off a Carleton free kick.  The game remained 1-1 at the half.

Carleton scored the go-ahead goal in the 52nd minute, sending a booming shot into the top left corner of the net from 30 yards out.

However, Lewis scored her second of the game as she found herself all alone with the ball in front of the net and slotted it in to even the score at 2-2.  The fourth-year urban studies major then came up with a huge goal, receiving a long through ball over the Carleton defender's heads to find the back of the net in the 90th minute.

Blues goalkeeper Sara Petrucci made several key saves in the second half to keep the score even, before Lewis punched Toronto's ticket to the quarter-final round.

The University of Toronto is the proud host of the 2013 CIS women's soccer championship, November 7-10, at Varsity Centre.
