WOMEN'S LACROSSE EXTENDS STREAK OVER EXCALIBUR, GAELS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's lacrosse team defeated the Trent Excalibur 15-6 and edged the Queen's Gaels 12-11 on Sunday, October 13 in Waterloo, Ont.

Toronto extended their win streak to seven games, with their only loss of the season coming at the hands of the Western Mustangs on Sept. 15.

In the first game of the day, the Blues found themselves leading 6-3 at halftime, and exploded for nine goals in the second half to secure the dominant win.
Larissa Boychuk led the Blues with six goals. Taryn Grieder tallied three and Emily Boyer had two. Melissa Holland, Sara Jamieson, Mary Anne Meersabeer and Carly Heitzner each added single goals in the win.

The Blues led the Gaels 8-5 at half time, and two second-half goals from Holland held off the Queen's rally for the win.

Greider led the team with four goals, while Holland had three, including the game-winner. Jamieson, Heitzner, Meersabeer, Boychuck and Kelly Robinson all scored one in the victory.

The Varsity Blues wrap up their 2013 regular season next Saturday, October 19 as they host the Guelph Gryphons at U of T Scarborough Campus. Game time is set for 9:45 a.m.
