The Varsity Blues travel to Kingston, Ont., for the 2012 OUA lacrosse championship, October 27-28, hosted by the Queen’s Gaels.
The Blues take on the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. The tournament concludes with four games on Sunday. The bronze medal game is set for 1:45 p.m., with the OUA final starting at 3:45 p.m. A full tournament schedule is listed below.
After starting the season 0-4, the Blues have rebounded to go 4-3-1 in their past eight games. Toronto defeated the Golden Hawks 9-8 in quarter-final action last season, and are coming off a 12-5 loss to Laurier last weekend.
Second-year midfielder Katie McCurdy (Orillia, Ont.) led the team with 20 goals, while veteran attacker Susan Tung (Peterborough, Ont.) tallied 12 goals and 12 assists in 12 games this season. Kelly Robinson and Kaitlyn Sandy have also had stellar seasons, notching nine and 11 goals, respectively, in 2012.
U of T looks to improve upon their fourth-place finish last season. The Blues will have to battle the top seeded Guelph Gryphons and defending champion Western Mustangs for a spot in the final on Sunday.
