BLUES, PALADINS PLAY TO 1-1 DRAW

Second-year goalkeeper Monica Maher had three saves as the Varsity Blue’s women’s soccer team tied the RMC Paladins 1-1 on Saturday afternoon (Sep. 24) in Kingston, Ont.

With the tie, the Blues are now situated in third place with a 4-1-2 record, while the Paladins are in sixth place in the OUA East division.

RMC’s lone scorer was Emmanuelle Piche (Bourcherville), who put RMC up 1-0 in the sixth minute of the game.

Varsity Blues midfielder Olivia Gonsalves of Scarborough, Ont., evened the score at the start of the second half.

Tied 1-1 in the dying minutes, Blues veteran Nav Deol of Mississauga, Ont., finished a header off a free kick, but it was called back offside and the game remained deadlocked at the final whistle.

The Varsity Blues return to action tomorrow when they take on the Queen’s Gaels in Kingston, Ont. The game begins at 1 p.m.
