Fifth-year striker Eilish McConville scored four goals to lead the Varsity Blues women’s soccer team to a 6-0 victory over the Nipissing Lakers on Saturday, September 10 at Varsity Centre.
A three-time CIS all-Canadian as a member of the Queen’s Gaels, McConville scored the eventual game-winner in the sixth minute of the match.
The Blues went up by two in the 29th minute when Aisha Lewis of Mississauga, Ont., sent a beautiful cross to fellow striker Hattie Daumann, who fired it into the back of the net.
McConville would make good on a penalty kick in the 44th minute and the Blues held a 3-0 advantage at the half.
McConville secured the hat trick performance in the 60th minute with a goal assisted by Daumann.
Third-year striker Jessica Fantozzi would get in on the action with some fancy footwork and a beautiful goal just three minutes later.
McConville rounded out the win with another tally in the 82nd minute.
Sophomore goalkeeper Monica Maher earned her second shut out of the season.
The Varsity Blues return to the field tomorrow afternoon as they host the Laurentian Lady-Vees at Varsity Centre. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
