The CIS defending champion Varsity Blues field hockey team dropped a narrow 2-1 decision to the Guelph Gryphons on Saturday morning (Oct. 22) at Downsview Park.
Despite the loss, the Blues (11-1) end their regular season campaign in first place heading into next weekend’s (Oct. 29-31) OUA championship.
U of T has outscored their opponents 51-2 over the past 12 games and have 10 shut outs to their name.
Toronto's Lauren Mansfield opened the scoring early in the game; however the Gryphons battled back to score two and took a 2-1 lead that they would not relinquish into half time.
