BLUES BLANK LADY VEES ON THE ROAD

The Varsity Blues women’s soccer team defeated the Laurentian Lady Vees 2-0 on Saturday, October 1 in Sudbury, Ont.

With the win, the Blues improve to 5-1-3 and remain in third place in the OUA East division.

After a scoreless first half, second-year striker Aisha Lewis of Mississauga, Ont., got the Blues on the board notching her first goal of the season off a corner kick in the 50th minute.

Etobicoke, Ont., Diana Esteireiro then added an insurance marker in the 66th minute.  The third-year defender sent a free kick past Laurentian goalkeeper Michelle Philp for her fourth goal of the year.

Toronto goalkeeper Sara Petrucci earned the shut out win.

The Varsity Bleus return to the field tomorrow as they travel to North Bay, Ont., to take on the Nipissing Lakers. Game time is set for 12 p.m.
