BLUES FALL IN FOUR SETS TO PALADINS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's volleyball team fell 3-1 (14-25, 25-22, 20-25, 20-25) to the RMC Paladins on Saturday, January 29 in Kingston, Ont.

The Paladins started off strong, winning the first set by an 11-point margin. The Blues stepped up their game in the second to even the score with a 25-22 set victory. Though the Blues fought throughout the final two sets and kept close behind the Paladins, they ultimately claimed both 25-20.

Veteran Karlee Diesing of Coquitlam, B.C., recorded 11 kills and 27 digs, while rookie and Ottawa native Elyssa Lanoix was right behind with 10 kills. Alexandra Hudson of Mississauga, Ont) also scored big with seven kills and 20 digs in the loss.

For the Paladins, Chelsey Litjens (Ottawa) landed 11 kills, tying with Diesing for the game-high. Litjens was supported by teammate Danielle Vortisch (Whitby, Ont.) who scored 10 kills and Melissa McCoy (Kingston, Ont.) with nine.

The Varsity Blues return to the court on Friday, February 4 to face off against the McMaster Marauders. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym.
