The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's volleyball team traveled to Fredericton this weekend to continue their preseason at the Philson Classic, hosted by the University of New Brunswick.

Toronto won three of five matches.

The Blues opened the exhibition tournament with an exciting five-set victory over Moncton on Friday (Sept. 25). Set scores in the match were 25-23, 16-25, 25-11, 22-25, 15-8). The day continued with a tough three set loss to Brock with set scores of 17-25, 18-25, 23-25.

Shifting to Saturday (Sept. 26), the Blues challenged two AUS opponents beginning with a three set loss versus Dalhousie. Set scores in the early morning match were 12-25, 16-25, 21-25. U of T then rebounded with a four set victory over Acadia with set scores of 25-20, 25-12, 24-26, 25-12.

The Maritime road trip was then closed out with a rematch versus Moncton which Toronto made quick work of with a three set win. Set scores in the final match of the weekend on Sunday (Sept. 27) were 25-17, 25-20, 25-10.

Next up, the Varsity Blues will serve as host for the Toronto Preseason Tournament from Oct. 16-18. Action from inside the Goldring Centre - Kimel Family Field House will see U of T face York on Friday (Oct. 17), Guelph on Saturday (Oct. 18), and Alberta on Sunday (Oct. 18).
