The Varsity Blues men’s tennis team narrowly fell 4-3 to the York Lions on Saturday, September 25 at York University.
Despite Stefan Srnic and Eren Turkmenler’s victory in the number one position, the Lions took the doubles point* by winning in both the number two and three spots.
York went on to win the number one and two singles matches, before Andrei Melchisedec, Cyrus Elmpackmackie and Jeffrey Jor won in the number three, four and five positions, respectively. Toronto’s Mukund Kumar also had a very close match in the number six spot, felling 4-6, 7-6, 4-6.
The Varsity Blues return to the court next Friday, October 1 when they host the Waterloo Warriors at York University. Matches are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
*Scoring: Score 1 point per match win for singles and 1 point for the team winning 2 or 3
