The Varsity Blues women’s soccer team defeated Trent Excalibur 2-0 on Saturday, October 23 at Varsity Centre.
With the win, the Blues improve to 8-3-4 and sit in third place in the OUA East division.
First-year striker Aisha Lewis of Mississauga, Ont., opened the scoring in the 17th minute when she jumped on a rebound and put one past Trent goalkeeper Emma-Lee Parkes (Toronto).
The Blues went on to dominate the rest of the half, outshooting the Excalibur 11-1.
Fourth-year striker Tessa Dimitrakopolous of Richmond Hill, Ont., added some insurance in the 84th minute when she received a cross from Jennifer Siu and kicked the ball into the top corner of the net.
Blues goalkeepers Kat Vulic and Leslie Kennedy shared duties in net and Lewis led the team with a game-high five shots in the shut out victory.
The Blues close their 2010-11 regular season tomorrow afternoon when they host the Ottawa Gee-Gees at Varsity Centre. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
