SCORELESS DRAW FOR WOMEN’S SOCCER

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women’s soccer team played to a scoreless tie when visiting the Queen’s Gaels on Sunday, September 13 at Richardson Stadium.

Toronto and Queen’s exchanged scoring chances early in the game with neither able to get on the board. The teams battled for possession for the remainder of the half but could not generate a sustained period of attack.

The Gaels came out strong in the second half with three scoring opportunities in the first 10 minutes, however, Blues veteran goalkeeper Mary Anne Barnes (Scarborough, Ont.) denied anything that came her way.

Toronto had numerous chances in the dying minutes of the match but were unable to solve Gaels goalkeeper Chantel Marson (London, Ont.) as the game ended in a scoreless draw.

Barnes tallied five saves throughout the match as the team remains undefeated in OUA regular season play (2-0-1).

The Varsity Blues return to action this Wednesday, September 16 when they take on the Ryerson Rams at Lamport Stadium. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
