BLUES REMAIN UNDEFEATED, DOWN MCGILL, MCMASTER

The University of Toronto’s women’s lacrosse team kept their winning streak alive, defeating the McGill Martlets 14-8 and the McMaster Marauders 16-6 on Saturday, October 24 at Tindall Field in Kingston, Ont.

Attacker Yoko Murphy (Toronto, Ont.) was the high scorer for the day, tallying six goals against the Martlets and three against the Marauders.

In the first game of the day, Murphy, Tory Merrill (Orangeville, Ont.) and Taryn Grieder (Cobourg, Ont.) got the Blues off to a good start, scoring two goals apiece to build a 6-0 lead.

The Martlets began to pick up the pace in the second half as middleman Nikita Robins (Maple Ridge, BC.) scored four points to get her squad back in the game. However, the Blues were able to hold onto their lead and wound up taking the game 14-8.

U of T played another fantastic game against the Marauders. Grieder was once again a leader for the Blues, scoring four goals; Murphy, Merrill, and attacker Jennifer Held (Brampton, Ont.) following close with three goals each.

McMaster players Katelyn Woods (Orton, Ont.) and Erin Nocholls (Campbellcroft, Ont.) both managed to score two tallies, however the Marauders were not able to gain the upper hand. Toronto ended the game with three unanswered goals, bringing the score to 16-6.

The Varsity Blues (11-0) take on the Guelph Gryphons tomorrow afternoon as they look to complete a perfect regular season. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
