BLUES BOUNCE BACK TO DEFEAT MARAUDERS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women’s lacrosse team went 1-2 this weekend (Sept. 13-14) at McGill University as they fell to the Laurier Golden Hawks and the Queen’s Gaels on Saturday, and defeated the McMaster Marauders on Sunday.

Fourth-year veteran Tory Merrill (Orangeville, Ont.) scored twice for the Blues while midfielders Kristi Nattress (Hamilton, Ont.) and Taryn Grieder (Toronto, Ont.) added a goal apiece.

The Queen’s Gaels handed the Blues their second loss of the day. The Gaels turned up the heat, scoring six unanswered goals and dominating the game offensively. Singapore native Sarah Woodward and Grieder scored for the Blues but it wasn’t enough as the Gaels came away with a convincing 14-4 win.
