TORONTO AND OTTAWA TIE IN BATTLE OF THE EAST

In a battle of the top two women's soccer teams in the OUA East, the No. 6 University of Toronto Varsity Blues drew the No. 4 Ottawa Gee-Gees to a 0-0 tie on Saturday, October 11 at Varsity Centre.

Both teams started off slow, unable to produce any quality scoring chances. First-year midfielder Jennifer Siu (London, Ont.) sparked the Blues offence, hitting the cross bar in the 30th minute of the match. However, neither team could find the back of the net and the game remained scoreless at the half.

Toronto put the pressure on in the second half but were plagued by numerous offsides and the stellar play of Ottawa goalkeeper Jess Charron (Ottawa, Ont.). Despite several Blues opportunities, the game ended in a 0-0 tie.

With two games in hand, the Blues currently sit in second place in the OUA East division, two points behind the Gee-Gees.

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues return to action tomorrow (Oct. 12) when they host the Laurentian Voyageurs at Varsity Centre. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
