Athletics Canada announced Monday that Varsity Blues track and field standout Sarah Wells has been named a member of the Canadian team that will compete at the North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) under-23 championships, July 9-11, in Miramar, Fla.
The 400m hurdler from Unionville, Ont., has enjoyed great success so far during the 2010 outdoor season. Wells kicked off the season with two first-place finishes at the 52nd annual Mt. SAC relays and the Long Beach State Invitational in California.
The third-year physical education and health student then topped all competition at both the Hillsdale College GINA relays and the University of Michigan’s Len Paddock Invitational, before recording a personal best time of 56.85 seconds en route to a sixth-place finish at the prestigious Georgia Tech Invitational on May 15.
A three-time Canadian junior champion in the 400m hurdles, Wells will prepare for the NACAC championship this weekend at the Lafarge Abbotsford International Track Classic (July 3) in Abbotsford, B.C.
