BLUES BEGIN 2026 U SPORTS TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN WINNIPEG

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues track and field team hit the ground running on Day 1 of the 2026 U SPORTS Track and Field championships at the James Daly Field House in Winnipeg.

DAY 1 RESULTS

A strong Day 1 performance was put forward by first-year sprinter Logan Duley. The economics student competed for the Blue and White in both individual and team competition. In the 60m, Duley finished in fourth-place in a thriller race that was down to the wire. His time of 6.74 seconds was three-one thousandths of a second behind Guelph's Keon Rude for a podium finish. The Richmond B.C., native isn't done yet, helping the Blues qualify for Saturday afternoon's 4x200m relay final. Duley along with Parker Long, Caiden Schultz and Liam LeMay time of 1:27.78 helped them punch their ticket to the final. 2025 OUA gold medalist Moses Aidoo punched his ticket to the 600m final with a third-place finish in the prelims with a time of 1:19.81. The 600m final will also take place on Saturday afternoon.

On the women's side, second-year sprinter Gloria Etim notched a fifth-place finish in the 60m. Etim kept pace with her counterparts, finishing the race in 7.54 seconds, improving on her 10th place finish in the event from the 2025 U SPORTS Championships. Shifting over to the field, second-year thrower Maakor Okai and fifth-year thrower Lily Spoozak both competed in the weight throw. The two Blues were back-to-back in the standings, with Okai securing a seventh-place finish with a distance of 16.88m and Spoozak finishing in eighth, throwing for 16.46m.

Competition at the 2026 U SPORTS Track and Field Championships continues tomorrow (Mar. 6) afternoon. The first event is scheduled for 2 p.m. est., with live stats available here. The event will also be streamed live on CBC Sports digital platforms.
