CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW: OUA FIGURE SKATING

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues figure skating team will head back to the Mattamy Athletic Centre as TMU serve as host for the 2026 OUA Figure Skating Championship from Mar. 10-11.

U of T figure skating have earned a provincial medal in nine consecutive seasons, claiming OUA silver in 2025. The Blues will be aiming to keep that streak going, while also challenging for a return to the top step on the podium. Toronto had a streak of six straight OUA banners from 2016 to 2022.

Helping lead the way for the Blues will be fourth-year veteran Gabrielle Guo. The multiple-time OUA all-star status has claimed the gold medal in back-to-back seasons in the Novice Short Program and Senior Similar Pairs. She is joined by fellow returning 2025 OUA gold medalists in Victoria Bockneck (Gold Freeskate),  Olivia Pulsifer (Open Rhythm Dance), and Hugo Li (Star 8-9 Pairs Dance, Senior Similar Pairs), providing the Blues with depth across a number of competitive categories.

This season, U of T earned an overall victory at the Western Invitational in the fall and a second-place finish at the Brock Invitational in February. Between the two showcase events, Varsity Blues figure skaters reached 20 podiums, including seven gold medals.

The two-day provincial championship will begin early morning on Tuesday, Mar. 10 inside the Mattamy Athletic Centre. Events will conclude with the large-scale team synchro on Wednesday (Mar. 11), where the overall champion will be determined.
