BLUES STIFLED BY MUSTANGS IN ROAD CONTEST

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's lacrosse team fell 14-8 at the Western Mustangs on Saturday (Oct. 3) night in London, Ont.

Toronto and Western traded blows throughout the first half with the Blues leading 4-3 at halftime. The Mustangs came out flying to begin the second half, scoring six unanswered goals to put themselves in the driver's seat. U of T continued to fight as the game progressed, bringing the score to within four goals and showing fight right up until the final whistle.

Midfielders Graham Dicken and Alexander May led the way offensively for the Blues with both players notching a three-point night. Dicken scored a hat trick and May registered one goal and two assists. Meanwhile, second-year attack Alexander Farrington registered two goals. Fourth-year attack Daniel Clarke and fifth-year midfielder Justin Ranger each added a goal. Fourth-year goalie Benjamin Rishikof made 24 saves.

For the Mustangs, Zach Abu-Ali led the way offensively with a four-goal two-assist game. Meanwhile, Blake Booth registered a goal and four assists.

The Blues are back in action on Saturday (Oct. 10) night when they host the McMaster Marauders at Varsity Stadium. The opening face-off is scheduled for 7 p.m., with tickets available at varsityblues.ca/tickets.
