The University of Toronto Varsity Blues track and field team served as host for the annual Sharon Anderson Memorial Meet on Saturday (Jan. 3) inside the Athletic Centre – Bruce Kidd Field House.
MEN'S RESULTS
On the track, Mattheo Douglas captured a podium finish placing third in the men's 300m with a time of 36.34. In the 1 Mile run, Max Elinson took fourth crossing the line in 4:33.48. Shifting to the throws, Elia Lini claimed second in the men's shot put with a toss of 11.78m, while Jason Okpere delivered the best distance in the men's weight throw clearing 16.92m.
WOMEN'S RESULTS
In the women's 300m, Michaela Wilson grabbed a fifth-place finish posting a time of 41.52. In the field, Precious Drub placed third in the women's high jump clearing 1.60m. In the women's pole vault, Brynn Miller took second with a best leap of 3.05m. Lily Spoozak also claimed a silver delivering a weight throw of 16.29m on her final attempt to earn second overall.
The Varsity Blues will continue their competition schedule next heading to Windsor for the annual two-day Can-Am Classic. Action from the highly competitive meet is scheduled to begin on Friday, Jan. 9.
