University of Toronto Varsity Blues badminton standouts Nathan Mills and Harold Tan will don the maple leaf as members of Team Canada for the 2025 FISU Summer World University Games.
"Making Team Canada was an incredibly satisfying feeling," said Mills. "It has always been a dream of mine to represent my country and play against the best players in the world, so you can imagine what it meant to me when I finally got the chance."
"Being selected alongside my partner Nathan feels amazing as I have been playing with him this whole season and it only feels right to enter onto such a prestigious stage of international badminton with him as well," added Tan.
Mills and Tan earned selection via their outstanding performance at the 2025 YONEX Canadian University College Championships. The doubles specialists first helped the Varsity Blues in claiming the team national title during the first two days of competition. The pair then worked together to complete an undefeated run to the men's doubles individual national gold medal, winning five matches across the final two-days of the event.
Mills and Tan additionally helped U of T win OUA provincial team gold. Together the pair are currently ranked 12th in Canada for men's doubles.
The 2025 FISU Summer World University Games is slated to take place from July 16-27 in various cities across Germany, including Mülheim where the badminton events will take place inside the Westenergie Sporthalle Mülheim an der Ruhr.
