The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's squash team will compete for OUA bronze after registering a 3-1 record during the opening rounds of competition at the 2025 OUA Squash Championships, hosted by Brock University at White Oaks Resort.
U of T began their run at the provincial showcase with a hard fought 4-3 victory over Queen's and a 6-1 win versus Guelph on Friday (Feb. 7), before adding an early 7-0 sweep of Ottawa to their record on Saturday (Feb. 8) morning.
With the unblemished 3-0 record, Toronto advanced to the OUA semifinals, where they would match-up with the Waterloo Warriors. However, the Blues run came up just short of a chance at the OUA banner as the Warriors earned a 5-2 victory in the final four match-up.
Toronto received outstanding effort from returning 2024 OUA all-star Will Harris, who delivered in the Blues No. 1 player slot, including a spectacular 3-2 come-from-behind win (9-11, 6-11, 11-9, 12-10, 11-2) in the critical opening match versus Queen's. Additionally, the pair of Ahmed Abdelkader and Usman Khan went undefeated across both days in the No. 3 and No. 4 positions.
The Blues will now look to rebound from the semifinal round, once again facing the Queen's Gaels in a rematch of that thrilling championship opener, now with a bronze medal on the line. Action from White Oaks Resort will resume for Toronto at 11 a.m. on Sunday (Feb. 9) morning.
