The University of Toronto rowing team were back on the water in Peterborough for the annual Head of the Trent on Saturday (Oct. 4).
Delivering the top result for the Varsity Blues, the women's lightweight 8+ crew crossed the line in first-place posting a time of 17:16.436. In the boat for U of T was Jamie Blunt, Guin Reaume, Dayun Kong, Sophie Corradini, Emily Thmpson, Caitlin Terry, Marina Sobotka, Olivia Ruffolo, and coxswain Jack Edwards .
The Toronto women would also earn a second podium result, finishing third among 12 entrants in the women's 4+. The quartet of Jane Paterson, Katarina Sinilaite, Taryn Fenton-Sickle, Madelyn Glowinski, and cox Amanda Liu crossed the finish line in 19:01.242 just over one second ahead of the fourth-place crew from McMaster.
The top result for the U of T men came in the JV category as the crew of John McDonald, Richard Lee, Daniel Pinto, Zef Wu, and coxswain Emily Boeva reached the top step in the men's JV 4+ race. The Varsity Blues boat finished 12 seconds ahead of the second-place team from Queen's with a time of 17:32.080.
The Varsity men also picked up a fourth-place in the men's lightweight 4+ from the crew of Lysander Weekes, Yechan Kim, Aaryan Patel, Youssef El May, and cox Elizabeth Yeo.
Blues rowing will conclude their fall invitational schedule next Saturday (Oct. 11) attending the Brock Invitational. Following that will be both the OUA championships in late October and CURC championships during the first week of November.
