The University of Toronto Varsity Blues rowing teams are back on the water at the Royal Canadian Henley Rowing Course this weekend for the 2025 OUA Rowing Championships.
Last fall at the provincial showcase the Toronto men were able to step up to the podium with a bronze medal result, while the women finished in fourth overall. In the individual events, the U of T women captured silver in the Lightweight 8+ and bronze in both the Lightweight 2x and Lightweight 4+. Meanwhile the men posted fourth place finishes in the Men's 2x and Men's 4+.
A part of two of the three women's medal boats from a season ago, Sophie Corradini has continued to add to her Varsity Blues career medal total adding gold in the Lightweight 1x at the Guelph Invite and in the Lightweight 8+ at the Head of the Trent. With plenty of other returning talent, and an influx of talented novice rowers receiving promotion this season, the U of T women aim to jump on to the overall podium this season.
Shifting to the men, Toronto will be looking to a number of third-year standouts to help maintain their status as one of the top teams in the province. Lysander Weekes and Sebastien Psarianos delivered top three results across multiple boats at the Guelph Invite, including the Blues Lightweight 4+ which also picked up a fourth-place finish at the Head of the Trent. Additional standouts this fall have included fifth-year veteran Youssef El Mays and second-year Blue Kalan Couch.
Oars will hit the water beginning the morning of Friday, Oct. 24 for novice events, followed by the varsity heats that afternoon. Championship finals are slated for Saturday, Oct. 25.
