CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW: OUA FIELD HOCKEY

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues head to Waterloo for the 2025 OUA field hockey championship, October 25-26.

The Blues, who finished the regular season in second place in the OUA East division (4-4-2), will take on the host and defending champion Waterloo Warriors in the semifinals on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Waterloo topped the OUA West division with a near-perfect 9-0-1 record this season. Toronto dropped a narrow 1-0 decision to the Warriors in their lone regular-season meeting on Sept. 27.
 
The winner of the semifinal will advance to Sunday's gold-medal match versus the winner of York/Guelph at 2:30 p.m., while the losers will battle for bronze at noon. All four games will be streamed live on OUA.tv. 
 
The OUA champion will advance to the 2025 Field Hockey Canada U SPORTS invitational championship, October 30 – November 2 hosted by UPEI in Charlottetown.
 
Third-year midfielder Alicia Lung led the Blues in scoring with six goals in eight games this season. The commerce major from Vancouver notched a hattrick in Toronto's 6-0 victory over Queen's on Oct. 5.
 
Rookie forward Catalina Meilleur of Calgary ranked second on the Blues in scoring with four goals, while first-year goalkeeper Mary Yang has been impressive for U of T in net. The kinesiology major from Calgary allowed only three goals against in eight games played, while earning six shutouts.
