The University of Toronto rowing team took the water at the Brock Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 11) in St. Catharines, Ont.
In the lightweight women's coxed four, U of T earned their best result with the Varsity Blues LW4+ crew finishing in 07:32.9 to secure a first-place finish.
Toronto's women had two second-place finishes on the day. The LW2x crew crossing the finish line in 07:37.1 in the lightweight women's double and the LW2- crew had a 07:55.2 finish in the lightweight women's pair race.
On the men's side, the top result came when the LM4+ crew was the third team to cross the finish line in 06:47.5 in the men's lightweight coxed four. In the lightweight men's doubles, Toronto's LM2x squad secured another third-place finish (07:00.8). U of T added two fourth-place finishes throughout the invitational. In the men's eight the M8+ crew was narrowly edged out as they crossed the finish line in 06:09.8, less than a second after the third-place Queen's team. The men's LM8+ team finished the lightweight men's eight with a time of 06:27.9.
Blues rowing will now turn their attention to both the OUA championships on Oct. 25 and CURC championships during the first weekend of November.
