The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's water polo team secured their spot in the gold medal match following two victories through the first two days of the National Collegiate Water Polo (NCWP) Championship in Kingston, Ont.
Entering the provincial showcase as the No. 2 seed overall, U of T opened the championship tournament with an impressive 18-5 win over Ottawa. The Blues then followed that up with a 19-7 semifinal victory over Carleton on Saturday, advancing to the Sunday gold medal match. A familiar opponent, the victory marked the third win for the Blues over the Ravens this season.
The gold medal match is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Sunday (Dec. 1) morning. Toronto will be looking to capture their eighth consecutive conference title and 37th championship banner in program history. The Blues opponent is still to be determined in a later semifinal.
