As announced by Ontario University Athletics (OUA) on Thursday afternoon, a trio of Varsity Blues women's soccer players in Hannah Chown, Hannah Anderson, and Cassie Chan were all recognized as OUA East all-stars.
Beginning with team captain Chown, the fourth-year teaching major was named an OUA first team all-star, earning all-star recognition for the fourth straight season. Chown led the Blues in scoring for the second consecutive year, tallying four goals across 12 regular season contests this fall. The veteran defender once again provides Toronto with high-level defensive IQ, while also chipping in offensively in set pieces and from the penalty spot. In 44 career regular season games played, she now has 18 career goals as a defender.
Also now a multi-time OUA all-star, third-year midfielder Hannah Anderson was for the second straight year named to the second team. A computer engineering student, Anderson was a workhorse across the entirety of the pitch, starting in all 12 regular season games this fall. Showcasing defensive tenacity and speed to chase down the opposition, she also chipped in on the offensive side of the pitch with her fourth career goal.
Rounding out the honours the Blues received, fourth-year defender Cassie Chan was named an OUA second team all-star, receiving the recognition for the first time. The centre back was vital to the Blues defence, which finished fourth in the province in goals allowed with just 10 conceded. Chan appeared in nine total contests this fall, adding a goal to her season tally in the Blues 3-0 regular season finale versus Laurentian.
