BLUES CLINCH PLAYOFF SPOT WITH WIN OVER MCMASTER

The Varsity Blues women's rugby team clinched a spot to the OUA playoffs with a 19-7 win over the McMaster Marauders on Saturday (Sept. 30) night at Varsity Stadium.

The Marauders opened the scoring midway through the first half, completing a try. But the Blues would not be held down, with Liane Catibog and Kallea Bes responding with a try each in the first half to give the Blues a 12-5 lead at the half. Megan Kennedy-Spence recorded the Blues lone conversion in the first half.

Emma Yang brought the Blues to victory with 17 minutes to play in the second half, putting the Marauders under pressure and being awarded a penalty try.

The Blues now look ahead to Saturday, October 7, when they face the Western Mustangs in their final game of the 2023 regular season. Kick-off in London is scheduled for 3 p.m.
