Box Score In the first of a home-and-home with the Queen's Gaels, the no. 1 nationally-ranked Varsity Blues defeated the Gaels 2-1 on Saturday (Sept. 30) afternoon in Kingston, Ont.
 
Queen's opened the scoring midway through the first quarter with a goal from midfielder Monica Johnston. The Blues would take back momentum quickly with rookie Alicia Lung recording her first goal in the Blue and White three minutes later off a penalty corner. 
 
After a quiet second quarter, it was first-year midfielder Elena Esposito who came to the rescue for the Blues, scoring Toronto's game winning goal in the third quarter, her first as a Blue.
 
The Blues complete their home-and-home with the Queen's Gaels on Sunday, October 1 at Back Campus Fields at 1 p.m.
