Going for their third straight win, the Varsity Blues field hockey team beat the Western Mustangs 3-1 on Saturday (Sept. 23) afternoon at Back Campus Fields.
After a relatively quiet first quarter, Elizabeth Assimes opened up the scoring for the Blues with two minutes to play in the quarter. U of T and Western traded chances throughout the second but the strong defensive play from both teams held both teams scoreless through the quarter.
Olivia Hledin recorded the Mustangs lone goal in the 45
th minute.
Molly Koop added the insurance goal for the Blues midway through the fourth quarter.
The Blues return to action on Saturday, September 30 when they face-off against the Queen's Gaels in Kingston, Ont. at 1 p.m.
