Beginning their preseason schedule, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team fell 90-58 to the Towson Tigers on Thursday evening at the Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.
The NCAA Division I opponent from Maryland brought a high-level of competition for a young Toronto squad to test themselves against early in their exhibition schedule.
The Blues were led by 2022-23 OUA all-star Callum Baker who tallied eight of Toronto's 17 first quarter points. Baker would finish the night with a game-high 18 points, adding two assists, one steal, and one rebound in 29 minutes of action.
In their first outing wearing the Blue and White, first-year guard Nathan Bureau and second-year guard Nadav Sahar provided Toronto with additional outside shooting, converting three field goals from behind the arc apiece. Sahar ended the evening with 14 points, while Bureau finished with 13 to round out the Blues double-digit scoring performances.
Meanwhile, the Tigers found success sharing the ball as all 10 players that stepped on the court recorded five or more points, propelling the visitors to the victory. Four Towson players reached double-digits on the night, led by second-year guard Christian May who registered 15 points, including several sensational dunks.
