The University of Toronto Varsity Blues track and field teams earned a silver medal on Day 1 of their 2023 U SPORTS championships (Mar. 9) hosted by the University of Saskatchewan.

TEAM STANDINGS: The Blues women currently sit fourth in the standings with 12 points, while the Blues men have not yet competed in any scored events.
WOMEN'S RESULTS:Â
Third-year sprinter Onome Gbinije earned silver medal honours in the 60m dash with a time of 7.40, while teammate Jasmine Lew finished in fifth place with a time of 7.46.

Second-year sprinter Jade Lenton also competed today, just missing the women's 600m finals, finishing 12th in qualifying with a time of 1:36.36.
MEN'S RESULTS:Â
Blues veteran Cam Bruce began his heptathlon journey today, finishing second in the 60m (7.10), second in long jump (6.81m), 11th in shot put (11.04m) and fourth in high jump (1.84,). Bruce currently sits in second position with 2,285 points.
Second-year middle distance runner Moises Aidoo finished just outside of 600m qualifying with a time of 1:23.29.
In the 4x200m qualifications, a team of Jake Leung, Brandon Tang, PK Moyo and Cameron Reyes clinched a spot in the finals, with a time of 1:30.82.
