TORONTO MEN'S WATER POLO DEFEATS WESTERN

On Saturday (Oct. 21) the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's water polo team defeated the Western Mustangs 24-4 in London.

In the Saturday afternoon contest, the Blues showcased a dominant offensive attack combined with shutdown defence, despite being without two starters in defender Camilo Cortes and goalie Miguel Garcia Alonso.

Starting the game slow, neither team were able to score in the first three minutes. However, a penalty shot scored by fourth-year attack Patrick Conn caused the flood gates to open.

As the goals rained down in favour of the Blues there was no lack of defence from Toronto as well. Starting in net, goalie Alexander Sanderson had a phenomenal performance with immaculate saves, and a beautiful buzzer-beating full pool goal.

The Blues will continue their season with another OUA matchup this coming Wednesday (Oct. 25) evening in Hamilton versus the McMaster Marauders. The ball drops at 8:20 p.m. for the road contest.
