U OF T KNOCKED OUT IN OUA QUARTER-FINAL ROUND

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's rugby team saw their playoff journey come to an end on Saturday (Oct. 14) afternoon in St. Catharines, falling 43-7 to the No. 10 nationally ranked Brock Badgers.

Qualifying for the OUA playoffs with a 3-3 regular season record, the Blues matched up with Brock who finished the season with a 4-2 mark.

Battling through the pouring rain and shorthanded, Toronto were in tough against the nationally ranked opponents. U of T were able to break through for a try as veteran prop Liane Catibog powered her way in for the score. Third-year full back Tristan McElrea successfully kicked the convert.

Late in the contest, U of T continued to push for another dive into the try zone. However, the Blues offence would be held back from scoring any further.

The OUA quarter-final match marked the second consecutive season the Toronto women's rugby team has qualified for the OUA postseason, showcasing a positive trend for the burgeoning program.
