MEN’S 4X200 RELAY LEADS BLUES ON DAY 1 OF CAN AM CLASSIC

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues track and field teams are in Windsor, Ont., for the 40th annual Can Am Classic, January 13-14.

MEN'S RESULTS: Leading the Blues on Day 1 were Emmett Bravakis, Adam Exley, Caiden Schultz and Jake Leung, who won the men's 4x200 relay in 1:30.38. They edged the Guelph Gryphons (1:30.75) by less than four one hundredths of a second.
 
David Adeleye (8.04) and Cam Bruce (8.09) placed third and fourth, respectively, in the men's 60m hurdles, while Ben Shore finished fifth in the men's 3000m in 8:34.12.
 
Jarod Manuel led the Blues in the field with a sixth-place finish in the shot put (13.42m).
 
WOMEN'S RESULTS:
Reigning U SPORTS triple jump silver medalist Kristen Schulz led U of T's women in the field, placing second in her signature event with a jump of 11.79m. Alexzandra Throndson was sixth in the pole vault, clearing 3.83m, while Voke Ewhrudjakpor placed sixth in the shot put with a throw of 12.17m.
 
Jade Lenton, Julia Berube Boutin, Andrea Barker and Christina Esposito led the Blues on the track, placing third in the 4x800 relay in 9:23.79.
 
Zahnee Grant-Bingling, Emily Wilke, Luiza Lena and Ivy Atem finished fourth in the women's 4x200 relay in 1:48.95. Lena also placed seventh in the women's 60m hurdles in 9.03 seconds.
