The Toronto Varsity Blues kicked off their 2022 OUA regular season campaign on Saturday (Sept. 3) at Varsity Stadium.
Playing host to the Western Mustangs, the Blues battled but ultimately fell 15-0 on a night in which both defences were difficult to penetrate.
Following a scoreless first half, the Mustangs eventually broke the 0-0 deadlock with a penalty try from 22-yards out in 45
th minute. It would take nearly another 20-minutes for the first try of the game to be scored when Western crossed the goal line in the 64
th. Leading 8-0 after a failed convert, the Mustangs would finish out the scoring in the 80
th minute with a converted try.
Next up for the Blues, they will travel to Waterloo, Ont., on September 10 and pay a visit to the Laurier Golden Hawks. Toronto's next action at Varsity Stadium will take place on September 16 against Trent.
