Box Score The 2021 OUA champion and No. 2 Varsity Blues began their title defence Friday night in London, Ont., with a date against the Western Mustangs.
Despite generating plenty of pressure throughout the night, in the end, the Blues used a goal in the final moments to secure a 1-1 tie.
For most of the contest, both teams were unable to capitalize on their chances with the score holding at 0-0 heading into the final quarter.
Then, in the 52nd minute, it was the Mustangs that would find their way onto the board, converting a penalty corner.
The late deficit did not stop the Blues from pressing though, and were finally rewarded when McKinley Kennedy scored in the 59th minute to tie the game.
Neither team would be able to find the game-winning goal in the few moments following Kennedy's goal, before the final whistle sounded.
Looking to secure their first win of the season, Toronto will return to Back Campus and host their home-opener on September 25 against the McMaster Marauders. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
