BLUES COMPETE AT CORNELL INVITATIONAL

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's and women's track and field teams competed in the Cornell invitational on Saturday, December 3 in Ithaca, NY.
 
WOMEN:

Third-year jumps specialist Jasmine Lew finished first in long jump, with a distance of 6.08m. With the result, Lew auto-qualifies for the U SPORTS National Championship this March. Second-year Jada Roach finished fifth in the contest with a distance of 5.53m.
 
Second-year jumper Kristen Schulz placed first in triple jump with a distance of 12.02m, while Roach finished second, jumping 11.78m.
 
First-year jumper Emma Dale came in third place in high jump, with a height of 1.64m.
 
Second-year pole vaulter Alexzandra Throndson placed second in pole vault. Throndson reached a height of 3.86m in her efforts.
 
In sprints, first-year Jade Lenton finished in second place of the 500m, with a time of 1:16.17.
 
Lew also placed fourth in the 60m, with a time of 7.62.

Men:

First-year sprinter David Adeleye placed second in the 60m hurdle with a time of 7.98. In the process, Adeleye auto-qualified for the U SPORTS National Championship and now holds the second-fastest 60m hurdle time in Varsity Blues history.
 
In another historic moment, four men recorded 60m times under seven seconds for the first time in Varsity Blues history. Jake Leung was the fastest with a time of 6.89, Eric Che and PK Moyo both hit 6.90 and Brandon Tang came in at 6.99.
 
In the 4x400m, a team of Emmett Bravakis, Caiden Schultz, Leung and Moyo placed third with a time of 3:24.50.

Second-year Bravakis also placed fifth in the 300m. The Kingston, Ont. native finished with a time of 34.97.
 
In the field events, second-year jumper Aidan Grout claimed the top spot in high jump, with a height of 2.04m. Teammate Mason McGregor placed fourth, with a height of 1.90m.
 
First-year Ryan Denman rounded out the podium finishes, finishing second in the long jump. Denman jumped to a personal best distance of 7.24m.

UP NEXT: The Blues return to action Saturday, January 7, at the U of T Open at the Bruce Kidd Field House.
